Comments Hobby Link Japan Bandai Lucky Box S

  • Yeaaah, this seems very much like a beginner box for people that don't know what to pick, rather than an actual 50-ish percent discount on retail price.

I hope you'll still enjoy the ones you will be building!

FlyingToNowhere1 month ago#120741600Cool stuff! But yeah, they should have thrown in more to give a better value. Don't call it a "lucky bag" if you're making the buyer pay retail price or above for everything in it. It's too bad, because when the lucky bag/mystery box trends started, it was customary to give extra value, sometimes a pretty decent amount. Now it's just become a way for even big companies to get rid of old stock and not even give out any real deals.
Yeah looks like HLJ just cleared their warehouse of some long forgotten products noone buys.
I did expect 3-4 kits to be like that, but I hoped at least one would make it really worth buying and compensate for the uncool stuff.

Panda_Roll1 month ago#120737584You honestly got lucky, you liked at least half of the items and even the misses are kindda cute.
Consider how the GSC lucky bag thing went for 90% of the posters on MFC.
Also Yokai Watch is pretty popular in japan so not surprised you got one, it didn't do so well overseas but I LOVED the games.
You can always sell the ones you don't like.

Yeah I'm not totally disappointed, but not thrilled either, especially about the price difference.
900 yen might sound silly, but in model kit hobby it means a HG instead of EG, figure rise standard instead of figure rise bust or a whole set of Gundam Markers.
Selling the kits I don't like is not very likeli. Shipping would cost more than the kit itself and I can't imagine anyone buying them really :(

I learned a long time ago to never get a 'blind box,' lucky box, or any kind of assortment that I couldn't see exactly what was in the bundle.

Most of the time, it's just a gimmick or sales trick to move stagnant, unmoving product, and get it off their inventory. They won't ever tell you exactly, because they know that most of the time, the customer would pass up that 'good deal.'

A nice selection of kits. You should give all the kits a go to build up confidence and skills in model making. Even if you dont like how plastic looking some of the kits are, you could experiment with paints/finishes to make it look good! Then you dont have to worry about messing up your gunplas. Also i think with the 1/72 scale (or whatever scale it is) is probably the same height as a normal gunpla 1/144 scale since its probably smaller in its source material than modern gundams.

This is cool. At least you can use the items you got to improve your GK/model building skills, unlike the people who are now saddled with 5 fortnite nendoroids lmao
