its possible! i've made two figures with model magic before, my advice would be to make a good armature, because air dry clay will sag and droop as it dries, and try to work in segments because some air dry clays don't blend into themselves very well (others do just fine, like some paper clays).

can someone give me advice about polymer clay cracking? i sculpt my figures with it but sometimes i end up doing more fixing than actual sculpting because the clay just cracks so much plus i can't carve it. i'm using sculpey premo

CharrChan14 days ago#121813912Does anyone know if silicon effects figures badly? I want to make a custom faceplate & hair for ITEM #236208 by taking a mould of the original and casting a resin piece to customise (I'd rather not alter the original figure).
I have made a silicone mold of a Figma faceplate with no ill effects. The specific silicone I used is Alumite Amazing Mold Maker, but I only picked that because it was available locally.

Probably gonna do it anyway since he comes with 2 face plates and I own 2 of him, but thought I'd see if anyone has done anything like this before?

It’s a good question but difficult to answer. What I know is that vinyl and silicone reacts to each other. Leaving marks on the vinyl. PVC is harder in structure and there could be on component that can leave marks on PVC too. I recommend a plastic layer between faceplate and the part you want to attach. As far as I know Resin and PVC don’t react to each other but I can be wrong.

It is possible with airdry clay. Make sure you are kneading it a lot before sculpting. It is for me years ago that I made something with airdry clay but it is sturdy.
If you decide to bake the clay after sculpting kneading it carefully is important.

After joining I recommend making a topic within our club for your questions about sculpting. I actually don’t know anything about sculpting but I do know that there are people here that have more experience with sculpting.

AH! THANK YOU!!

ti22ao25 days ago#121424594Hi! I'm a beginner sculptor trying to make a cute action figure with polymer clay. How do I join? :D
I've always wanted to interact with the MFC community and I think talking with more experienced members will help me learn more about joints!
